Edith Council George, 75, died 3/20/2004, at her home. Born in Bolton, NC, she was a daughter of the late Milton Clyde & Mary Rebecca Partridge Council. Mrs George was a member of the American Legion Aux, Southampton Community Chorus & South Quay Bridge Club. She was a member of So Quay Baptist Church & attended Beaver Dam Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Chancel Choir. Survivors include her husband of 51 yrs, Raymond B George Sr; 2 daughters, Robin G McLean & husband Archie of Lumberton, NC & Lisa G Robertson & husband Dale of Windsor, VA; one son, Raymond B George Jr & wife Gail of Burkeville, VA; 3 sisters, Victoria Skipper of Reading, PA, Mary Glover of Franklin & Betty Richardson of FL; 2 brothers, Neal Council of So Mills, NC & Roy Council of Zuni; 6 grandchildren, Raymond B Jay George III, Angela D Thornton, Melissa McLean, Andrew McLean, Rhonda Howell & Edward Johnson; 2 grgrandchildren, Tyler Howell & Katie Howell; and her 2 beloved pets, Tootsie & Molly. Mrs George was predeceased by a sister, Lucy Ivey and a brother, David Council. A funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Tues at Beaver Dam Baptist Church with the Rev Dr Richard L Peerey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Mon from 7-8:30 pm at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggest memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs Ruth Petty, 116 Southampton Rd, Franklin, VA 23851.
