1/28/2005 - John T Carter b. c1802 Ga m. Martha b. c1804 Ga named their son William Wooten Carter. We have no idea who John & Martha's parents were, nor her maiden name. It seems likely she was a Wooten, or they were otherwise related to Wootens. This couple were in Troup Co, GA c1827 then lived in Meriwether Co, GA until after the Civil War. Looking for info on LUCINDA JANE "JENNIE" WOOTEN, b. c1867 Darke Co, OH d. 1944 m. Daniel G Niswonger. They moved to the central Mich area. Searching for info on LUTHER BILL HOOTEN/WOOTEN b. 6/4/1896. "Bill" Hooten m. Nellie Hanna Hooten in Delta Co, TX. They had 7 children and lived in Paris, Lamar Co, TX when they died. Seeking information on JOSEPH H WOOTEN, parents, siblings etc. Have death certificate of his only child, Peter Edmund Wooten, states father Joseph H Wooten b. SC; mother Catherine Clockfelter b. SC. From "Abstracts of the Spartan" 12/8/1859 Mr Joseph H. Wooten of Spartenburg District to Miss E. C. Clockfelter of Greenville District. Joseph H. Wooten enlisted 2/17/1863 Co F, 1st (Charleston) Battalion, SC Infantry. According to voice memory records he was killed at the battle of Petersburg. Son, Peter Edmund Wooten b.1862, was raised by John and Sara Clockfelter Rome (assume a sister of E. Catherine Clockfelter Wooten) in the Rutherford and Cleveland Cty area NC. We do not know what happened to Joseph's wife, E. Catherine. Any help appreciated. Kennett Whelchel
