NANCY TANKERSLEY b. 1779 VA (according to census reports; some references say of Irish descent, others English) d. 1863 age 85 and buried in Georgetown/Versailles Wisc m. 4/11/1801 Campbell Co, VA to BENJAMIN FRANKLIN WAYNE. It appears that they moved to Montgomery Co, KY c1807-8 (Tax Rolls and 1810 Census). Benjamin Franklin Wayne fought at the Battle of New Orleans and elsewhere in the War of 1812 (his father was a Rev War soldier at Valley Forge). c1828 they moved on to Edgar Co, IL (one of the earliest families there). Nancy is listed in the 1840 Census for IL and later in the 1860 Census for Grant Co, Wisc (age 82). Benjamin and Nancy had 8 children and we've traced most of their descendents. Our line goes back to SARAH TANKERSLEY b. 1760-1780 m. John Victor b. 1757 d. 1817. Both John and Sarah's families were from Fredericksberg and Port Royal, Va. John Victor fought in the Rev War. They had a son whom we assume was John Engelbert Victor II. John Victor II had a son: John Engelbert Victor III b. 1823 prob Va m. Lucy Burke. Lucy and John Victor III moved to Monroe Co, Mo and are suppose to be buried in Middle Grove, Mo or poss Moberly, Randolph Co, Mo. We would appreciate any help you can give us on this line.
