I am researching my Allen line, and found my David Allen (1741/2-1812) m. 12/13/1764 Falmouth, MA to BETSEY/BETTY/ELIZABETH HATCH b. 11/19/1744 d. 1/5/1838 Edgartown, MA. Any information about this Betsey Hatch would be greatly appreciated. Jean
During research on William DYER b. 10/30/1690 Barnstable, MA I’ve come across a conflict with regard to the ancestry of his grandmother LYDIA HATCH b. 12/9/1626 Scituate, MA. According to information found in the GENDEX, her grandparents were ARTHUR HATCH b. bef 1590 in Aller, Devonshire, England and Margaret MALLET. The LDS Ancestral Files, on the other hand, lists them as WILLIAM HATCH b. 12/9/1563 Kent, England and Ann TILDEN b. 11/5/1570 Kent. Both sources agree that
Lydia’s parents were THOMAS HATCH b. 10/14/1598 Wye, Kent, England and Grace (LEWIS) b. c1605/6 Kent.
Recognizing the inherent unreliability of either source, I would like to think that one of these two theories about the grandparents of Lydia is correct. Does anyone have anything definitive which would confirm one or the other? Or does
someone have other information showing another line? Bill Leslie
